Video Tutorial: Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire IMM5490

This form is used for sponsoring a spouse, common law partner or conjugal partner for Canadian permanent residence. This form is of course completed by the person being sponsored (not the person doing the sponsoring).

As well, this form is for those who use the “out of Canada” sponsorship process (as opposed to the “in Canada” sponsorship process which is a completely different process altogether).

Generally, an “out of Canada” sponsorship process is where the sponsored person remains out of Canada during processing (other than the occasional visit to Canada perhaps). The Canadian sponsor may be living in Canada or may be living outside of Canada with his or her spouse or partner.

This video will highlight some of the more difficult areas of the form to complete. You must use this video in conjunction with Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s instructions and guides. Do not rely on this video to ensure a properly completed form. As always, seeking legal advice is recommended when applying to sponsor a spouse or partner.
