Working Without a Work Permit

There are some classes of individuals who do not need a work permit to work in Canada. I’ve provided a partial list below but please take note: there are numerous pitfalls and very specific requirements to be met in order to qualify to work without a permit.

• Full-time university or college students working on campus during the validity of their study permit

• Convention organizers
• Clergy
• Judges/referees
• Academic examiners
• Expert witnesses
• Medical students
• Civil aviation inspectors
• Crew members of foreign-owned transport companies
• Emergency service providers
