New Government, Lower Fees

2006-02-05

A quick note that the new Conservative government has promised to reduce or eliminate the $975 right of permanent resident fee for new immigrants. While I applaud the new government for lowering barriers to entry, I suspect many immigrants would rather the right of permanent residence fee stay in place and that money spend on hiring more visa officers to improve processing times. Waiting for a decision from CIC is certainly more painful than paying an entrance fee in most circumstances.
