I recently heard from a colleague that a client’s IELTS Academic scores were not accepted as part of the immigration application. That client had to take the General exam to proceed.
Until recently, IELTS (English language test) scores were only valid for one year, which meant that some applicants who required IELTS results would have to re-take the exam even though their skill level with English had not changed.
Currently, IELTS scores are valid for 2 years. I believe this is a reasonable step forward. I would also like to see medicals valid for 2 years, but we will have to wait and see if that happens.
If you are taking the IELTS, be sure to take the General and not the Academic version of the IELTS.
