I suppose it varies from province to province, but what are some of the main needs to fill?

And, how long are work permits issued for?

Generally speaking, skilled trades are in demand (particularly in Alberta, and particularly related to the oil field). But construction and mechanical trades are in demand and generally, positive LMO's can be obtained for them. Nurses and doctors are also in demand outside of the major cities. The more specialized your training and work experience, the better your chances. Remember that in order to get a work permit (outside of NAFTA), the employer has to show it is difficult to find a Canadian to do the work.

    I'm sorry I don't know yet- what are LMO's?

I found some listings. Like you said, lots of doctors, nurses, computer engineers.

Looks like Quebec is in need of skilled butcherso_O I wonder how long one has to train to become one of those.
