I am an American citizen visiting my boyfriend in British Columbia. I've been here 5 months, so my initial 6 month stay is almost up, and I wanted to renew it. I'm not quite sure how it works. Apparently, I'm not eligible to apply online. So I figured I would do it on paper, but it won't allow me to pay the application fee. I tried using a Canadian pre-paid debit card and an American debit card, but neither would work. Does it have to be a Canadian credit card?
Also, I haven't printed out or completed my application yet (I don't have a printer, and it said I have to send the receipt with the app, so I figured I'd pay it, then print them both out at the same time), could that be the problem? Honestly, I am still confused by the CIC website, it tends to just lead me in circles. If anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
