Hello. Please help. Two (2) questions:

    1. Is it illegal for me not to disclose my husband's PR status? I have made photocopies of his PR confirmation, but the person on the phone asked if it was under regular, governmental, or private sponsorship. If I do not have to answer this question, I prefer not to, as it would prejudice our family from a housing program.

    2. How can a person check such a status? Can I call up Ottawa and ask to see if someone is under private sponsorship or not? What are the mechanism of checking if such checking is needed?

Please reply at your convenience. Thank you.

    Hi Igor,

What type of application is it? I'm not sure what you mean by 'private sponsorship'...?

The sponsorship is under the family class; she is my common-law partner. I am curious if her "PR" card would indicate what sort of sponsorship she came to canada under, and if not, then how would one go about finding out.
