Does anyone know if the health care system is standardized nation-wide? Or, are there variations in coverage by province. I'd expect the former, but welcome anybody's feedback.

From what I have read on Canada, there is a government funded health care system which is generally free to ensure health care for everyone. Costs are mostly paid through funding from income taxes. A variety of health plans is not needed because all necessary primary care is covered.

They do have some things that aren't covered by their healthcare system. These are usually things that don't have to do with health related issues. Eye care, dental, wart treatments, and anything that relates to cosmetic instead of health are not covered.

Thank you for the information, loon92. It is understandable that cosmetic procedures are not covered; it is the same in many other countries. There probably are private medical aids in Canada willing to fund this kind of cosmetic procedures.
