I applied for and got an appointment for a new permanent resident card. The date that they assigned for me to pick up my card, however, I will not be in town then. If I do not make it to the assigned appointment, I know it could possibly take many months to get rescheduled. Does anyone know what my options might be in this situation? What happens if I miss my appointment? Any help will be appreciated!

When you are immigrating as a permanent residency card, then CIC will mail your card to you.

You can apply for a permanent residence card after you've lived in the Canada for 5 years.
  4. If you got an appointment, You can contact to your relative or friend or someone in Canada who can be able to call CIC on your behalf. The only other option I can think of is to try to call the regular CIC Call Centre at 416-973-4444 and see if they can help you.
