I read somewhere that the majority of people who immigrate to Canada eventually become a Canadian citizen. That sounds like a major step to me, despite how much I would like my application to be successful.

I wonder what percentage of permanent resident immigrants do become citizens. What are the pros and cons of doing so? It makes sense to me that one would do so. And, aren't you allowed to have dual citizenship?

I agree with judyk, it will actually be wonderful obtaining Canadian citizenship by default when living long enough in Canada. The ideal situation is to be assigned dual citizenship, but I have no idea whether this included in Canadian legislature.
